The Art of Connection: Where Design Meets Durability

A Home Built for Connection

When a home becomes a hub for family, friends, and food, every detail matters. Once closed off from the rest of the home, the kitchen now stands as a seamless extension of family life.

KIND’s design vision opened up the space – connecting kitchen, dining, and living zones visually and functionally for cooking, gathering, and making memorable connections.

Designed & Crafted with a Purpose

With an eye for detail and technical control, KIND refined the home’s layout for effortless connection and use. Through careful planning and an understanding of how their clients truly lived, the design team reimagined the space into a single, cohesive kitchen, pantry, and bar.

Every feature was designed for efficiency – pocket doors conceal appliances, integrated dishwasher and fridge maintain visual simplicity, and practical pull-out systems optimise every corner.

Neolith: A Statement in Stone

A modern, two-tone kitchen featuring a large, dark island with clear acrylic bar stools, set against a back wall with olive-green upper cabinets and black lower cabinetry.

But the showpiece of this transformation is undoubtedly the striking four-metre-long island that anchors the space. Bridging the kitchen, pantry, and dining area, the island is not just a workspace; it is a social magnet where stories are shared, meals are prepared, and life unfolds.

The kitchen’s benchtop and splashback, clad in Neolith’s Nero Zimbabwe Riverwashed porcelain, set the tone for the entire palette. The dark, textured finish adds both depth and drama, while its tactile surface invites touch and interaction. Beyond beauty, Neolith was chosen for its unmatched durability, resistance to stains and scratches, as well as for heat-proof material characteristics – making it a perfect choice for a kitchen built for real life.

The 20mm thick slab reinforces the home’s contemporary aesthetic while complementing KIND’s signature soft curves. Those gentle arcs continue the visual rhythm established by the custom curved cabinet that conceals the rangehood, softening the robust materiality with elegance and flow.

Crafted with Precision, Built with Passion

From a technical perspective, this project demanded ingenuity. KIND’s designers had to navigate around structural columns and carefully frame existing windows to preserve natural light. Floating cabinets by the island bar were engineered with precision to ensure they appeared effortless while maintaining full structural integrity.

Even the groove panelling that wraps the pantry walls was meticulously aligned with the benchtops and joinery, creating visual continuity and balance across the space.
